Digital Notarisation in the UAE

Digital notarisation in the UAE runs through four distinct channels, each administered by a different authority, each operating under the UAE Pass identity layer. The notarisation channel is the surface on which a document is sealed; UAE Pass is the federal identity that authenticates the signatory underneath every one of them.

The identity layer

UAE Pass authenticates the signatory in every digital notarisation channel. A digital notarisation cannot proceed without it. The signatory’s identity is verified through the UAE Pass account at the qualified signature level before any notary engagement begins, and the channel inherits that verification rather than performing its own.

The four channels at a glance

Dubai Courts e-Notary is administered by Dubai Courts and operates within Dubai jurisdiction. MOJ E-Notary is administered by the Ministry of Justice and operates at federal level outside Dubai and Abu Dhabi local court jurisdictions. ADJD Digital Notary is administered by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department and operates within Abu Dhabi jurisdiction. Each channel issues its output under its administering authority’s seal.

The selection principle

Channel choice follows the authority’s jurisdiction over the document’s end use, not the signatory’s residence or convenience. A document destined for a Dubai counterparty is notarised through Dubai Courts e-Notary; a federal-level matter through MOJ E-Notary; an Abu Dhabi matter through ADJD Digital Notary.

The execution principle

Digital notarisation is conducted in real time, supervised remotely by the notary, and produces a digitally sealed output. The seal is verifiable through the issuing authority’s verification facility and is accepted by counterparties within that authority’s jurisdiction without paper authentication.
